A place I’ve always wanted to visit… A long drive (thanks B), rain, clouds, huge waves and lots of tourists, but definitely worth it.
This is a place we’ll come back to for a longer period of time. It’s stunning.
I had my heart set on seafood for lunch, so I tried the chef’s anchovy tasting plate (marinated, stuffed & fried and pan fried), followed by homemade squid-ink pasta with tomato, zucchini & mussels. It was absolutely delicious.
The red wine, bread, olive oil and vinegar perfected it.
Unfortunately B’s lunch was substandard (swordfish ‘like a mix between a pancake and rubber, with bones’)
We only stopped in one of the five towns – Manarola – but caught the train from Levanto, so we saw a little of the coastline.
Plenty of hikers and serious walkers out for the day, despite a lot of trails being closed due to the weather. It was incredibly windy, we were a bit over it by 5pm and ready to head home.
I don’t know if it was the seafood, the car travel or something else, but since then I’ve been feeling a bit off-colour. It comes & goes but my stomach is not quite right.
I seem to have a bit of a sore neck and shoulder, so I’m quite looking forward to returning to our home in Budapest for a big bath!

Thank you dearest Mr B for driving all over northern Italy for me… xx
